Is their a difference between being baptised and christened?

Hi Ali,

"Christened" is often synonymous with baptism when it is done to a baby, although the word really means "to officially give a Christian name to" and not necessarily "to make a Christian".

Some people have a "dedication" or "thanksgiving" for their children when they are babies instead of a baptism or Christening, where they thank God for the baby and promise to bring the child up to know and love God. That's what we did with our kids.

This comment was going to get long, so I've posted some more of this answer. Let me know if you have more questions (and Happy Easter!)
